There are new books available in the RCHS library, which means new adventures to read about and experience. Recently, the school library upgraded the books on the shelves to offer students a wider selection of both new books and classics to choose from.

The library has always been a source for students to find entertainment in the form of good books and interesting magazines. Mrs. Wells has always tried to stay up to date with the latest books so that the library wouldn’t be so far behind.

"I have always tried to keep up with the latest books out there," RCHS librarian, Mrs. Wells said, "so, that way, nobody would need to ask if I would be ordering new books." She also added that she tries to order some of the most popular books out there to help meet the students’ interests.

Where does the money come from for ordering new books? "All the money for the books comes from the school," said Mrs. Wells.

Mrs. Wells stated that she orders new books every year for the library, and most of the books ordered come from a company in Illinois.

So, what if a student is looking for a certain book? "Just come on down here," Mrs. Wells suggests, "and we’ll see if we have it."

This year, on December 4th-9th, RCHS had its second book fair. The book fair was for all students and faculty and was something of a fundraiser for the library, also offering a chance for our school to gain new books for our reading pleasure.
"We were pretty successful considering the economy," Mrs. Wells, our librarian stated. "Last year we did better," Mrs. Wells said, but with the current economy no one expected sales to be on the rise, she said.

This year, the book fair switched locations which allotted for more space and a place for zero block to take place within the library.
Also, this year there were several things that students and faculty seemed to gravitate toward while at the book fair. Among the best sellers were: the
Twilight Series, and the Twilight movie posters which sold out. Most of the students, as well, liked the school supplies and small random items like erasers and small note pads.
If you happened to go to the book fair you might have noticed a change jug on the check out table, and all of the change that the book fair collected in that went to underprivileged children for books in Owsley County. Mrs. Wells said, "People were unsure about it, but we got a lot of change." So it appears that collecting change went well.
"As long as the students enjoy it we will have one book fair a year, every year around Christmas," Mrs. Wells said. Therefore, you could save you money for the next book fair, there is enough for everyone to enjoy.
