Speed Bumps Taken Up at R.C.H.S.

Has the ride through the parking lot seemed a little less bumpy lately?

The speed bumps that were in the student parking lot and along the road near the softball and baseball fields are gone, but they will be replaced and relocated.

As of late summer, the speed bumps on the R.C.H.S. grounds were removed so that they could be relocated in more effective locations. Mr. Doug Mullins, the facilities director of Rockcastle County Schools said, "The speed bumps were taken out because vehicles were leaving the paved area and driving around them onto the grass."

Mr. Mullins stated that the new locations will be chosen to stop vehicles from driving off the roadway and damaging the grass. "The speed bumps are scheduled to be relocated," she said, "however, they will be placed in line with the existing drainage ditches in order to keep vehicles from driving around them."

The idea behind the speed bumps is to keep drivers under the fifteen mile-per-hour limit, Mullins said.
