From cook to manager, the new lunchroom manager, Mrs. Derotha Bradley, is cooking up something more than just sub-sandwiches and pizza—she’s dealing with a whole new level of responsibility.
Some nine-years ago, Derotha Bradley was searching for a job at about the time period when her kids were in school. Seeing as there was an open space in the school cafeteria, Derotha began working as a school cook. "At the time," she said, "my kids were in school and I didn’t have to hire a babysitter."
Mrs. Derotha grew up in
Knox County, Kentucky, and she attended the Rockcastle Vocational School.
While there, she studied accounting in the hopes of one day becoming an
accountant. Those skills she learned in accounting will probably come in
very handy with her new job as the manager of the Hard Rock Café at R.C.H.S.
As opposed to just cooking and serving, this year as manager, Mrs. Bradley will also take on other duties like ordering food and doing tons of paperwork. As manager, she will also supervise the kitchen and makes sure students get the right amount of nutrition.
Through it all, Mrs. Bradley says she will have one single mission in mind: "To try to feed kids what they like."
