Tickets will be going on sale for the Winter Ball on Monday, December 15th.
Mrs. Baker and The Key Club are organizing the semi-formal dance for grade levels 9-12, and this year’s theme has been chosen as "The Snowy Night Soiree." Soiree is French for "party," and that’s just what the Key Club wants people to do at this year’s event.
Winter Ball 2K9 will be held on January 10th from 8 PM-midnight; however, if weather prohibits the event, the dance will be postponed to January 24th from 8-midnight.
(Does anybody else think it strange that we may have to call off the "Snowy Night Soiree" due to, well, snow? Go figure!)
"There will be free food and photographs will be
sold," said Mrs. Baker, an event sponsor. Also, notice that, although your
date doesn’t have to attend R.C.H.S. in order to attend Winter Ball, they
will have to meet certain guidelines. "Anyone accompanying a R.C.H.S.
student to Winter Ball does have to be approved by Mr. Nobel or myself,"
said Mrs. Jennifer Mattingly. (We don’t think you have to worry about J.M.
and B.N. asking your potential companion what he or she does for a living or
what his or her intentions are!)

There are a few guidelines about who can and cannot attend. You can’t attend Winter Ball if you’re over 21 years of age or if you have been banned or suspended from extra curricular activities.
You can pick up your tickets in the lunchroom during your lunch period beginning December 15th or at the door the night of the event. "The tickets are $25 for a couple and $15 for a single," Ms. Baker said.
All the money made from Winter Ball goes to school improvement projects like adding a better sound system to our gym. "Just recently, a PA was put in the gym," Ms. Baker said.
"Snowy Night Soiree" is a semi-formal dance, so dress presentably, as if you were attending church. (Only, we hope the vibe at the Ball is a little different!) "Of course, the R.C.H.S. Dress Code applies," stated Ms. Baker.
Orderly conduct is expected while at the winter ball. All school rules apply, so in the words of Mr. Nobel, "If you have the urge to back that thing up, you can back that thing out!"
So, if you want to bust a move in a stylish setting while breaking out of the winter bla’s, buy your tickets, dress to impress, and show up ready to get your groove on (um, within limits!).
